Submit resolutions first before setting EGM date, says sec-gen

KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA’s central delegates EGM action committee has to hand in its proposed resolutions and the reasons for submitting them before the secretary-general can fix a date for the merged or single extraordinary general meeting.
MCA secretary-general Datuk Wong Foon Meng said he was waiting for the requisition with the required number of signatures from the committee supporting Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek to convene the merged EGM.
Wong said the requisition plus one-third of the central delegates’ signatures were necessary under Article 30.3 and 31 of the party constitution.
He said this in response to calls by Datuk Seri Tan Chai Ho and Loh Seng Kok, who are both representing the committee for Dr Chua, to set a date for a meeting to discuss the proposed resolutions for the EGM.
In a press statement released yesterday, Wong denied telling Tan and Loh that he had not received the president’s resolutions during their meeting on Sept 4.
“Thus, the allegation that my action does not reflect my words does not exist,’’ he said to Tan’s claims that Wong was not being transparent by telling them that he did not have the president’s resolutions but told the media otherwise.
