Positive response at Matta Fair as H1N1 subsides
KUALA LUMPUR: Visitors to the ongoing Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Fair are more willing to fork out for their tour packages, now that the fear of influenza A(H1N1) has subsided.
Organising committee chairman Datuk Mohd Khalid Harun said public response to the fair had been very positive.
“There were 27,100 people who came on the first day of the fair. On the second day, 38,300 people turned up to see what was on offer.
“From what I can see, visitors seem to favour tourist destinations like China, Australia, Indonesia, Korea, Taiwan and Japan,” he said.
Khalid also advised consumers not to get caught up by the heat of the moment due to attractive low prices on offer and read through the details of the tour packages.
“They need to be careful of hidden costs when choosing their holiday packages and ensure that the travel agencies honour their contracts,” he said, urging consumers to report to Matta any travel agency that short-changed them.
