Naza Group founder gets posthumous award

PM: Press and Govt relationship critical
PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin SM Amin, founder of Naza Group, was posthumously awarded the National Press Club (NPC) Business Visionary Award 2010.
His son, SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, received the award from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak during the inaugural NPC-Naza Awards Night 2010 on Friday evening.

“Today, it is a diverse conglomerate involved in motor vehicle manufacturing and distribution, property development and hospitality with over 4,000 employees.
“My father knew what he wanted to achieve and had a plan. He set the foundation upon which Naza Group was built,” said SM Nasarudin.
He added that his father’s passion, vision and good business acumen set him apart from the rest.
SM Nasimuddin passed away in May 2008 from lung cancer. He was 53.
Among the other awards given were the NPC-Scomi Journalist of the Year to The Star’s managing editor P. Gunasegaram and Utusan Group assistant editor Zaini Hassan and the NPC-Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin SM Amin 1Malaysian of the Year to cartoonist Datuk Mohd Nor Khalid, fondly known as “Lat” for his drawings of Malaysian life.
