SEOUL: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin described his four-day visit to South Korea as fruitful and of great significance.
After 50 years of bilateral relations, he said ties between both countries remained strong,
“But we need to strenghten the relationship even further with iconic programmes in the fields of investment, education, and culture among others,” he told reporters here.
He described South Korea as a very advanced and competitive nation.
“The people of South Korea believe they will one day overtake Japan.
“In fact they have already overtaken Japan in the automotive and electronics industries,” he said, citing the Samsung Group’s success as an example.
Muhyiddin said the captains of industry whom he met had confidence in Malaysia.
He was especially impressed with South Korea’s progress in education through the use of information and communication technology.
Muhyiddin returned to Malaysia in the afternoon after attending a private function in the morning.
