TAMIL newspapers continued to highlight the detention of wanted Malaysian criminal Michael Soosai in Chennai by Indian police.
They reported that a special team had been formed after police in Andhra Pradesh received reports from three men who had sought lucrative overseas jobs but had been cheated of money and jewellery.
The men, Pradip Philipbose, 50, Joyer, 52, and Ganapathy @ Ravindran 47, had claimed to have gone for an interview in Tirupathi after applying online for a supervisor’s job in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore.
Following the report, the team managed to contact a Dharmadevan on the pretext of enquiring about an overseas job and set up an appointment in Chennai. They then detained him and his wife, Rajeswari.
Police were shocked to discover that Dharmadevan was actually Michael Soosai, sought by Malaysian and Indian police. He also had several other names, including Dr Rajasekar, Karuna Raj and Dr G.K. Raj.
Soosai was also wanted for the murder of P. Subramaniam, a Malaysian, in 2004. Subramaniam was lured to India where he was kidnapped and murdered.
