Hadi: We did not talk about unity govt with King
By SYED AZHAR
KOTA BARU: PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and party spiritual advisor Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat have quashed speculations that they had discussed the issue of a unity government with Umno with the Yang Di Pertuan Agong.
Abdul Hadi said he and Nik Aziz had attended a banquet hosted by Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin at Istana Terengganu in Kuala lumpur on Dec 24 but dismissed speculation that the Malay unity matter was discussed with the King.
“Right after the meeting, I left for England to launch a PAS supporters club in Manchester.
“And that is all there is to it,” he said at a press conference at JKR 10, the official residence of the Kelantan Mentri Besar here yesterday.

In a statement read out at the press conference, Nik Aziz said on Dec 20, former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had visited him at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian and extended an invitation on behalf of the Yang Di Pertaun Agong to attend the royal dinner.
“Abdullah said Tuanku Mizan had asked for Datuk Seri Hadi Awang and me to attend the dinner at the palace.
“Out of respect I attended the dinner function,” he said.
“However, it would be unethical and impolite for me to tell what transpired during the conversation I had with Tuanku Mizan,” the Kelantan Mentri Besar said.
Nik Aziz appealed to the media to stop making their own assumption or statements about the meeting to safeguard the honour and good name of the palace.
Internet news portals had been abuzz with an alleged secret meeting between Tuanku Mizan and Nik Aziz, Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and deputy Umno chief Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to revive talks to form a unity government.
