AN ANGRY husband, who was awakened from his morning slumber, beat up and stabbed his wife, Harian Metro reported.
The woman is now in coma and fighting for her life at the Ampang Hospital, the paper said.
A police source told the daily that the couple in their 30s had quarrelled at their Pandan Indah Commercial Park home after the wife woke him up at about 6am on Sunday and asked him to perform his subuh (dawn) prayer.
After repeatedly telling his wife not to bother him, the man lost his patience and started to beat her up.
Despite the assaults, the woman continued to nag him to pray which further infuriated the man.
He took out a knife and stabbed her in the abdomen.
The victim's screams alerted a neighbour who rushed to the house.
“On seeing the neighbour, the husband fled,” the source said.
Ampang Jaya police chief Asst Comm Amiruddin Jamaluddin said police had mounted a manhunt for the suspect.
> A 24-year-old student was caught with a Nigerian man by anti-vice officers at a motel in Changlun, Kedah on Saturday, Berita Harian reported.
She has been held for alleged khalwat (close proximity) under Section 9 (2) of the Kedah Syariah Criminal Enactment 1988.
If convicted, she is liable to be fined up to RM2,000 or jailed for up to a year, or both.
The man was freed because he was not a Muslim.
A source told the daily that officials from the Kubang Pasu district Islamic affairs department had gone to the motel room following a tip-off.
The Nigerian opened the door and allowed them in without any resistance.
The woman, from Puchong, Selangor, was lying on a bed and appeared shocked when the officials walked in. Both were dressed in T-shirts and shorts.

Kuala Lumpur traffic enforcement chief Asst Supt Azmi Wahid said investigations revealed that the 14-year-old had previous offences, including impersonating a police officer when trying to commit robbery.
Also arrested was a restaurant worker for reckless driving while racing with another car.
They were among 210 - including 180 motorcyclists - who were stopped during a four-hour operation to nab street delinquents on Sunday.
ASP Azmi said 157 summonses were issued.
