Mat Rempit mum and dad arrested
NILAI: Policemen conducting an operation against illegal motorcycle racing here were shocked when they nabbed a couple racing with a baby in tow.
The husband, 22, and wife, 20, were racing around Dataran Nilai on Saturday night while carrying a 15-month-old baby boy when they were arrested by a police team.
It is understood that the couple, who live with the husband's grandmother in Sepang, near here, had been asked to buy mosquito coil but joined the other motorcyclist in illegal racing instead.
The grandmother, in her 60s, who came to the scene after being contacted by police, slapped both of them several times before seizing a plastic bag believed to contain glue, which the couple were addicted to.
“No shame, no shame, this is what you are doing?” the elderly lady screamed at both of them in the presence of police who grabbed the plastic bag from her on realising that it contained a prohibited substance.
The infant boy, meanwhile, slept soundly in his father's arms.
Police rounded up about 250 illegal racers in the operation, which also covered Nilai 1, Nilai 2 and Nilai 3.
Asst Supt Khuzir Abdul Majit, who led the operation, said the couple were racing on a Honda EX5 machine, while the baby was cradled between them.
“We also seized their motorcycle for not having road tax, besides having illegal modifications,” he said.
He added that among the other illegal racers nabbed was a mentally-challenged man who had with him an OKU (disabled person) card issued by the Welfare Department.
