Sex syndicates resort to pimping via SMS

SEX syndicates have resorted to offering prostitutes to their regular customers via SMS, China Press reported.

The daily reported that the SMS messages contained descriptions of the prospective prostitute, including her body measurements and age.

A 58-year-old man, who only wanted to be known as Chen, said he would usually receive three to four such SMSes daily and it had put him in an embarrassing position.

Chen, who had received 200 such SMSes within three months, said his friends had shunned him after they learned that he had received such SMSes.

“I called up the numbers and asked the people answering the calls to stop, but they keep sending more SMSes to me,” he said.

> Sin Chew Daily reported that a four-year-old girl almost became a kidnap victim while she was at a morning market in Sungai Pelek, Selangor on Friday.

The girl was with her mother when she was approached by a middle-aged woman.

The mother realised that her daughter was missing before realising that the strange woman was walking away with her daughter.

The woman ran away when the mother screamed for help.

The paper also reported that the United Chinese School Teachers Association (Jiao Zong) would organise a fund-raising campaign to raise RM1mil to fund its operations.

Its chairman Ong Chiow Chuen said the association needed the community's donations to continue organising its programmes.
