FILM producer Raja Azmi Raja Sulaiman (pic) has been ticked off by a High Court judge in Shah Alam for missing three court appearances in a civil case linked to a RM5.9mil land sale.

The producer of Malaysia's first gay movie Dalam Botol was brought to court on Thursday after an arrest warrant was served at her home in Hulu Klang earlier in the morning.

According to the Bahasa Malaysia dailies, Raja Azmi, the wife of former national badminton player Jalani Sidek, explained to the court that she was admitted to a hospital for four days to undergo eye surgery.

Judge Lim Yee Lan said Raja Azmi should have been jailed until the next trial date as she appeared in court on an arrest warrant.

However, the judge let her off with a RM30,000 bail in two sureties.

> A student complained to the Consumer Claims Tribunal in Johor Baru that he wasted RM25,000 for a three-year diploma course in graphic designing which was not recognised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency.

Harian Metro reported that Yu Chin Hao, 27, said he had enrolled at Neo-Art Institute but later found out that the course had no certification from the agency.

“Some of my friends quit the course halfway. But my family had spent a lot of money, so I stayed on,” he said.

Tribunal president Quaik Chong Yu instructed Neo-Art Institute to refund RM25,000 to Yu within 14 days.
