Compiled by P.ARUNA, NG SI HOOi and A. RAMAN

CHILDREN aged between five and 15 years old were found selling prawn crackers, biscuits and 4D result slips until midnight in Klang, Guang Ming Daily reported.

The children were seen going from table to table at stalls, coffeeshops and restaurants with family members.

However, the daily reported that some of these children might be under the control of syndicates.

Some were even seen asking money from the patrons, but most of the patrons did not give them any, it reported.

When a reporter from the daily checked with three children who were seen selling prawn crackers at midnight, one of them said the crackers were made by their mother, who was at home looking after their youngest brother.

They refused to answer further questions and quickly left after the reporter bought a packet of crackers from them.

The reporter also spotted a woman who was begging for money along with two young girls.

> China Press reported that the Federation of Chinese Associations of Malaysia (Hua Zong) president Tan Sri Pheng Yin Huah urged the Chinese guilds and associations not to participate in any rally or assembly on July 9.

Pheng also urged Bersih 2.0, Umno Youth and Perkasa to cancel their rallies.

Pheng acknowledged that the Federal Constitution gave the people the right to assemble.

However, he said such rallies could turn hostile and lead to unpleasant incidents, urging those who planned the rallies to consider expressing their demands and views in a more peaceful manner.
