Thailand’s terror threat affecting our tourist arrivals, says Yen Yen

RAUB: The tourist arrivals in Malaysia will be affected by the recent terrorism threat warning in Thailand, says Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen.

She said the situation would definitely cause an impact as tourists, especially those from China would take multiple destination packages which includes Malaysia and Thailand.

“This bomb threat must be monitored closely as any indication which will cause concern for tourists will definitely have an impact on our country,” she said after supervising the disbursement of the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) cash aid to some 300 applicants at Pekan Dong here yesterday.

The United States Embassy in Thailand had warned its citizens last Friday that foreign terrorists could be looking to conduct attacks in tourist areas.

Dr Ng said that the threat must be seen as a mirror for the Malaysian tourism industry, which plays a large role in the nation’s economy building.

The Raub MP also said that the BR1M aid would be disbursed in stages to some 8,000 applicants in her constituency.
