Help keep Hindu customs alive, Subra tells temple panels

MIC deputy president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam wants temple committees and religious organisations to formulate measures to ensure the continuation of Hindu customs and traditions, Makkal Osai reported.

He said there should be religious classes weekly at temple premises for youths so they may know and sing religious hymns in the future.

Speaking at a fund-raising dinner for Sri Ramalingeswarar Temple last week, he said many children were involved in unwanted social activities due to lack of guidance and motivation.

> Malaysia Nanban reported that 37 workers in a telecommunication company in Ipoh for more than 20 years, had made a police report against their employer after they were terminated without compensation.

Workers' representative Abdul Malik Kamaruddin said 400 workers working in Taiping, Tapah and Ipoh had been terminated in 2010.

He said the employer claimed they were forced to terminate the workers due to poor business.

Parti Sosialis Malaysia vice-president M. Saraswathy said companies should not unfairly terminate workers.

> Tamil Nesan reported that police in New Delhi rescued a three-year-old boy who was kidnapped and sold to a childless couple.

Three people, including the couple, were arrested in Uttam Nagar.
