6.4 magnitude earthquake hits south of Fiji


KUALA LUMPUR: A 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit the southern part of Fiji Island at 8.52am Tuesday.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department said in a statement that the earthquake's epicentre was at 758km southeast of Suva, Fiji and 7,318km southeast of Tawau, Sabah.

It added that there was no tsunami threat from the quake.
