Woman leaves car with engine running and it's gone

KUALA LUMPUR: A woman left her car with the engine running for a few seconds and it was gone.

The woman, in her 30s, was stunned as she watched a man drove off in her Peugeot car after she got out to lock the front gate of her terrace house in Bangsar at 8.10am Thursday.

Brickfields police chief ACP Wan Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said two men in a car had stopped behind her vehicle.

"One of the men got out and quickly entered the woman's car before driving off," he said.

He said the woman was leaving for the office when the incident took place. She also lost her handbag and laptop which were placed on the front passenger seat.

ACP Wan Bari said motorists should not leave their cars unattended with the engine running.

"Don't leave the car keys in the car because we don't know who are watching us, and look out for suspicious characters before leaving the house.

"Handbags and valuable items should not be left exposed such as on the passenger seats as this will only invite crime," he said. BERNAMA
