SIBU: A labourer was crushed to death when he was sandwiched between a container and a barge in a tragic accident at the Rajang Port Authority (RPA) wharf yesterday.

A fellow worker, who declined to be named, said She Hung Ley was in charge of unloading containers from barges at the wharf in the morning when the tragedy happened.

She, 35, died on the spot.

He is survived by his wife and three children aged four to 10, all of whom are in Kapit.

In a separate incident, a tech-nician was found dead in his room at the Public Works Department (JKR) quarters in Jalan Teku.

The decomposed remains of 53-year-old David Sudin were discovered by a neighbour Mohamad Salleh.

Salleh had earlier noticed a foul stench coming from his neighbour’s room and sensed that something was wrong.

He went over to David’s place and knocked the front door a few times.

Hearing no reply, Salleh decided to enter the room through the back door.

Salleh told police that no one had seen David for several days prior to the discovery of the body.

David lived alone here while his family is in Mukah.

Forensics personnel found no injury on the body and they believed that no foul play was involved in David’s death.
