Muhyiddin: Govt to help all Malaysians irrespective of political inclination

By DIANA ROSE

LIMBANG: The Barisan Nasional government is totally committed to help all Malaysians irrespective of their political inclination and deliver what had been promised to the people, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

"The BN government is giving total commitment to develop the nation and to improve the livelihood of all Malaysians, including the people in Ulu Limbang," he told about 1000 people at SK Nanga Merit, 40km from here Thursday.

"We never asked whether you support Baru Bian (Sarawak PKR chief) or Hasbi Habibollah (Limbang MP). We will help everyone," he said

He explained that his visit here Thursday, his third as DPM, was to have a first hand look at the school and to assess the needs of the community here.

"I am here here to look at the actual situation and not (rely on) second hand reports from another person," he said.

"It is our responsibility to get in touch with the people, to know their needs and to see what the state and federal government can do to improve the livelihood of the people," he said.

He added that the Barisan government would not promise what it cannot deliver.

At the function, Muhyiddin approved a total grant of RM26mil for SK Nanga Merit and SK Tanjung Limbang.

SK Nanga Merit, build in 1963 with 59 students and 20 staff, was allocated RM1mil for construction of three new blocks to house teachers' quarters, six new classrooms and upgrading of the hostels and toilet/bathroom facilities.

SK Tanjung was allocated the balance to build a temporary school building to replace the current dilapidated ones while waiting for the construction of new school building which will be slotted in the next 13th rolling plan to be executed in a few years time.
