Showroom ‘visitor’ drives off with RM900,000 Porsche
KUALA LUMPUR: A smartly dressed man walked into a Porsche showroom here and coolly drove off with a brand new RM900,000 car.
The showroom personnel only realised that a car was being stolen when the security guard raised the alarm after noticing it being driven off without number plates.
Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Zainuddin Ahmad said the man, dressed in a white long sleeve shirt and dark coloured pants, entered the Jalan Bukit Bintang showroom at 9am under the pretext of looking for someone and walked into the office.
He said the man then took an envelope which contained the key to a brand new gold Porsche Panamera.
“He entered the driver's seat, started the engine and drove off. The whole incident lasted five minutes,” he said at the Dang Wangi police headquarters yesterday.
ACP Zainuddin said the showroom called the station to report the theft at 10am.
Police are looking for Mohd Azri Mohd Kassim 31, to assist in investigations.
He urged anyone who knew the man's whereabouts or with information to contact the Dang Wangi police headquarters at 03-26977099 or the Kuala Lumpur police hotline 03-21460522.
Meanwhile, police have arrested five men in connection with the theft of five Honda cars worth over RM500,000 from a showroom at Bandar Sungai Long on Sept 25.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Mohd Adnan Abdullah said police arrested the five suspects near the Anjung Umbai jetty, Malacca, at around 4.30pm on Tuesday.
“We have recovered two of the stolen cars there, while two more were recovered at Kuala Selangor several days ago,” he said, adding that police were looking for the fifth car.
He said they would be making more arrests soon.
It was reported that a mob of armed men stormed into a showroom in Bandar Sungai Long, near here, and fled with an undisclosed sum of money and the five Honda cars.
The group of about 15 men, armed with parang and axes, overpowered two unarmed security guards and tied them up before making their getaway in the five cars in the incident which occurred between 2am and 3am on Sept 25
The guards freed themselves and called the police at about 7pm, said Kajang Deputy OCPD Supt Azman Ayob.
