80 DAP, PKR and PAS members join Umno

BERA: Eighty Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), PAS and DAP members of Felda Bukit Mendi and Pucong have decided to join UMNO.

They handed their application forms to Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob during a meet-the-people session by leaders at Felda Bukit Mendi, Bera on Friday.

Ismail Yusoff, who represented the group, said the members had been staunch supporters for about 20 years but their welfare was not taken into consideration.

"I myself was a very strong DAP supporter but the party has done nothing worthwhile for me or for the Malay community here. After witnessing the many programmes undertaken by Barisan Nasional (BN) to ease the burden of the people, I decided to join UMNO after weighing my options," he told reporters here.

He added that the leaders of the opposition parties do not seem united in their struggle and have done little for the welfare of the people.

"BN is very committed in helping the people, especially Felda settlers, and what they (Felda settlers) are enjoying today is the efforts of Umno and BN," he said. - Bernama
