JOHOR BARU: The soon-to-be-launched Ready4Work portal aims to help fresh graduates improve their marketability and land their dream job.

This collaborative effort between Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd will be launched at the end of the month.

Talent Corp chief executive officer Johan Mahmood Merican said Ready4Work would address common complaints that fresh graduates are unemployable.

“Employers complain that fresh graduates ask the wrong questions, demand high salaries and top positions and don't do adequate research before going for an interview.

“Through our website, students can learn the do's and don'ts during interviews as well as improve their communication skills through a series of videos, forums as well as question-and-answer sessions with actual employers,” he said after signing a memorandum of agreement with UTM to collaborate on the portal.

The portal, slated to launch on Oct 31, is part of UTM's MyLinE, a site that provides online resources for learning English.

UTM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Zaini Ujang said he was confident the portal would be able to help students gain insights into what specific industries seek in an employee.

“Besides that, we are collaborating with 10 companies that will provide valuable advice and industry tips for those seeking to present themselves in a better light and land their dream job,” he said.

The companies include Axiata, CIMB, Ernst & Young, Intel, Maxis, Price Waterhouse Coopers and Telekom Malaysia.
