A 37-YEAR-OLD army man chopped off his wife's head after suspecting her of adultery, reported Malaysia Nanban.

After the incident, he went to the police station with the severed head in a bag and surrendered.

Samundi, serving in the army in Delhi and a resident of Veerapalayam in Tamil Nadu, had returned to his village on annual leave a month ago.

Suspecting that his wife Mala, 34, was having an illicit affair, he warned her to stop.

They quarrelled over the issue and an upset Mala went to her parents' house in Bagayam.

On Sunday, Samundi went there to bring his wife back home to take care of their two sons, Saran Kumar, 13, and Gokul Kumar, 11. However, Mala refused to go with him.

Infuriated, Samundi hacked Mala with a sickle, killing her on the spot, then chopped off her head.
