KUALA LUMPUR: Stamp enthusiasts can look forward towards adding to their collection Pos Malaysia Berhad's latest stamp and philatelic items designs featuring the various uniforms worn by postmen in Malaysia over the past 60 years.

The new stamps are to mark the World Post Day celebration on Oct 9, and will be sold to the public from Oct 22 onwards.

Pos Malaysia CEO Datuk Khalid Abdol Rahman said Friday that the designs were also a tribute to postmen who had served the nation over the past six decades.

“This is the first time in Pos Malaysia's history that we are issuing a special collection of stamps featuring types of uniforms worn by our postmen from the colonial era until the modern times.

“The different uniforms mark the changing times in Malaysia's history,” he said at the launch of the new designs at Pos Malaysia headquarters here.

Among the various types of uniforms depicted on the stamps were the durable khaki were worn in the 1950s, the brown-coloured uniforms in the 1970s and the later blue uniforms.

Stamps featuring postmen uniforms in the 1950s, 1970s and 1990s are available in denominations of 60 sen, 80 sen and RM1.00 respectively.

First-day covers with stamps and first-day covers with miniature sheets are priced at RM2.90 and EM3.50 respectively, while special edition folders are sold for RM5.50 each.

Full sets, including three 20-piece stamp sheets, first day covers with stamps and a miniature sheet, and a folder are also available at RM62.90 each.

The limited-edition stamps and philatelic items will be sold at all post offices nationwide, and are only available on a first-come-first-served basis.
