Cop apologises for slapping student
JITRA: A policeman who slapped a Form Five student in a school compound last year has apologised to the student's father.
Teacher Ainol Anwar Ahmad, 43, said the policeman, a corporal, apologised to him near the entrance of the school yesterday.
“Since he has apologised, I will drop plans to take legal action against him,” he said.
Ainol Anwar said his son Muhammad Danial, who was then studying in SMK Tanjong Pauh, suffered injuries on his right cheek and was traumatised and ashamed after the 1.30pm incident on March 10 last year.
“My son was escorting a friend who had committed an offence from the car park to the school senior assistant's room when the policeman slapped him without any reason,” he said.
Meanwhile, the policeman refused to comment on his apology.
Muhammad Danial, now studying at Kolej Poly-Tech Mara in Alor Setar, said he was happy that the case had been settled.
He said he felt ashamed since the incident occurred in front of many people, including his school friends and parents of students.
