Unemployed man charged with rubber tapper’s murder


SUNGAI PETANI: An unemployed man was charged Tuesday with the murder of a rubber tapper at Ladang Bukit Lembut, Bedong, near here last month.

S. Kanageswaran, 25, of Taman Sari, Batu 2 here was charged with intentionally killing K. Kaliany, 55, by shooting her with a gun at 11.45 pm on Sept 17 in front of her house.

He faces the mandatory death sentence upon conviction under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

No plea was recorded and Magistrate Nur Faizah Muhamad Saleh set remention for Nov 4 pending the chemist report.

DPP Rehab Abdul Shukor prosecuted and the accused was represented by lawyer R.S.N. Rayer. - Bernama
