Former cop, man claim trail to bribery involving urine test


ALOR SETAR: A former policeman and a civilian pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here to bribery in relation to a urine test.

Hashim Said, 58, a sergeant at the narcotics division of the Kuala Muda police headquarters in Sungai Petani, is charged with receiving RM500 from Shahfarid Subry, 26, as inducement to change a urine sample of Ammar Azmi, 19, who had tested positive for drugs, to negative.

Shahfarid was charged with having received RM500 for Hashim from Azmi Hashim, 51, for the same reason.

The duo were charged with committing the offence at Restoran Nasi Kandar Ayam Kampung Haji Ramli in Simpang Empat here between 4pm and 10pm, on June 23, last year.

Judge Mohd Sabri Ismail granted Hashim and Shahfarid bail of RM5,000 in one surety each and fixed Nov 20 for mention to enable them to appoint a lawyer and for the submission of documents. - Bernama
