Only strife awaits if Chinese accept hudud, warns Wanita MCA chief Yu

KUALA LUMPUR: Chinese voters will only face strife and challenges if they accept hudud law, warned Wanita MCA chief Datuk Yu Chok Tow.

She said if hudud is passed in Parliament, Malaysia will "forever say goodbye" to being a secular country and become a genuine Islamic nation.

"In the upcoming general election, if the Chinese voters via their votes convey the message that they can accept hudud, it is only strife and challenges that await the community," she said in her keynote address at the Wanita MCA 37th annual general assembly.

She said religious academicians and legal experts had often reiterated that the implementation of hudud will destroy the country's diversity although PAS and DAP had stressed hudud will not be imposed on non-Muslims.

"A country with two models of legal standards will only serve to create serious legal conflicts," she added.

She called on Wanita members to spread the message that can be caused by hudud.
