Mechanic gets 14 years’ jail for rape
PETALING JAYA: A mechanic was sentenced to 14 years' jail and three strokes of the whip by the Sessions Court here Monday on two counts of rape another for committing oral sex on a 15-year-old girl last May.
Judge Balqis Aini Mohd Ali handed down the sentence on Mohd Hairi Hamzah after he changed his plea to guilty for all three charges.
On the first count, for raping the girl at an apartment in Puchong between 9pm and midnight on May 24, Mohd Hairi, 25, was sentenced to five years' jail and a stroke of the whip.
The second charge of committing oral sex on the girl at the same place and time, he was sentenced to four years' jail and a stroke of the whip.
He was sentenced to another five years' jail and a stroke of the whip on the third charge, also for raping the girl last May 22.
However, Mohd Hairi only had to serve five years in jail as the court ordered the jail sentence to be served concurrently from the date of his arrest on June 5 this year.
In mitigation, Mohd Hairi, who was unrepresented, said he had a wife, mother and children to support.
