Bus association to write to Bukit Aman about rampant battery theft

SIBU: The Sarawak Bus Transport Company Association will write to Bukit Aman police as a last resort to solve the rampant theft of the batteries of its buses in Bintulu.

Chairman Lau Khing Seng told The Star yesterday the bus companies there were continuously losing their batteries to thieves, who struck at night.

Each battery cost RM400, and that was not cheap, he said.

“At one time, a thief was in the act of escaping with a battery, and during a brief chase, he threw the battery to the ground.

“Even though the battery was recovered, it could not be used any longer because it was damaged when it was thrown to the ground,” he lamented.

Lau said the association had already lodged a report on the matter with the Bintulu police.
