Fire dept prepares 500 boats, trucks, helicopters to face monsoon season


MARANG: The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) has made early preparations to face the monsoon season expected to begin next month.

Its director-general Datuk Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim said the preparations included under water rescue as floods were expected.

"We have issued instructions to the members and officers of the department to get ready and to ensure all equipment are in good condition.

"With 500 boats on hand, the fire department is fully prepared," he said, adding that besides the boats, fire trucks and helicopters would be put on stand by.

He said this when met by reporters at the Graduation ceremony of the Fire Science Certificate Course, at the Malaysian Fire Rescue Academy, in Wakaf Tapai, here. - Bernama
