No plan for early announcement of election candidates, says Ahmad Maslan

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno has no plans to announce the list of election candidates early.

Umno Information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan said the advantage of making an early announcement would be to allow for early preparation.

The disadvantage would be that those who did not get selected would be upset for a longer time, he said.

“If the time given for preparation is short, there'll be less time for anyone to do anything against the party,” he said after his walkabout at the Selayang wholesale market on Thursday.

Ahmad admitted that an early announcement of candidates would lead to the possibility of sabotage against the selected candidate and party.

Meanwhile, Selayang Umno Youth chief Datuk Sohaimi Shahadan said that they would continue taking legal action against the Selangor state government for failing to provide free water as promised by the Pakatan Rakyat-led government.

He said that 10,000 people had so far initiated the suit against the government.
