Accused farm hand denies killing Sosilawati

SHAH ALAM: An accused in the murder trial of Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya has denied killing the cosmetics millionaire by stabbing her in the neck.
Farm hand T. Thilaiyalagan, 21, disagreed with deputy public prosecutor Ishak Mohd Yusoff who suggested that he had Sosilawati lying down before stabbing her in the neck while former lawyer N. Pathmanabhan watched the gruesome act.
The accused was cross-examined by the prosecution at the High Court here Thursday.
Thilaiyalagan, together with Pathmanabhan, 43, R. Matan, 22, and R. Kathavarayan, 32, are accused of murdering Sosilawati, 47, two years ago. They are also accused of murdering her driver Kamaruddin Shamsuddin, 44, bank officer Noorhisham Mohamad, 38, and lawyer Ahmad Kamil Abdul Karim, 32.
Ishak suggested that Pathmanabhan had ordered Thilaiyalagan to kill Sosilawati in front of him because he "wanted to watch", which the accused denied.
Ishak: The female (Sosilawati) screamed loudly for help.
Thilaiyalagan: I disagree.
Ishak: The (three) men, you killed them the same way.
Thilaiyalagan: I disagree.
Ishak: You had them lying down on their backs, covered their faces with towels and stabbed their necks.
Thilaiyalagan: I disagree.
The accused also denied ordering Matan and a farm hand K. Sarawanan, 21, to hand over petrol and diesel to him after killing the victims.
(Sarawanan is currently serving a 20-year term at the Sungai Udang prison in Malacca after pleading guilty to disposing evidence related to the murders).
Ishak: You, Matan and Sarawanan lifted the victims and placed them on wood pieces that were earlier stacked.
Thilaiyalagan: I disagree.
Ishak: You and Matan poured petrol over the victims. Later, you, Matan and Sarawanan burned the victims.
Thilaiyalagan: I disagree.
Pathmanabhan, Thilaiyalagan, Matan and Kathavarayan had allegedly committed the murders at Lot 2001, Jalan Tanjung Layang, Tanjung Sepat, Banting, between 8.30pm and 9.45pm on Aug 30, 2010.
On April 30, the High Court ordered them to enter their defence on the murder charge
