Senior citizen loses bag containing cake and baking utensils to thief
A MAN armed with a knife snatched a senior citizen’s bag that contained a butter cake, baking ingredients and utensils, a camera and RM300 cash, as the woman was walking across the pedestrian bridge on Persiaran Raja Muda Musa in Klang.
C. I. Phang, who lodged a report at the Klang South police headquarters over the 7.30pm incident, said she had returned from Kuala Lumpur after a baking course and was walking towards the Sri Sundararaja Perumal temple when her bag was grabbed.
“No one was on the bridge at that time and the man just ran off with the bag with ease as it had wheels. He got onto a motorcycle and sped off.
“I tried to get help from a man in a car to call for the police but he told me to go to the coffee shop to make a call,” she said.
Phang added that the thief had dropped his knife on the bridge.
“In total I lost about RM600,” she said.
Phang urged the Klang Traffic police to have frequent patrols in the area.
In an unrelated case in Section 10, Petaling Jaya, a woman in her mid-60s who was carrying two bags which contained second-hand clothes to give to the St Francis Xavier Church in Jalan Gasing, had the bags snatched by two men riding on a motorcycle.
“All were second-hand clothes meant for the hardcore poor,” she said.
