Moderate earthquake hits northern Sumatra
KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit northern Sumatra, Indonesia, at 10.22 am Monday.
In a statement, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said the location of the quake was 105km southeast of Nias in Indonesia and 414km southwest of Klang, Selangor.
It said the temblor did not pose any tsunami threat. - Bernama
