Ambulance driver killed in accident
KOTA BARU: An ambulance driver was killed when his motorcycle collided with a lorry at a road-shoulder off Jalan Kota Baru-Pasir Mas Salor here Monday morning.
Alias Awang, 50, who worked for the Pasir Mas Hospital, died on the spot.
The victim, who suffered from heart ailment, was on his way to get medication from Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian when the crash occurred about 9am.
The body was sent to the HUSM.
Kota Baru police chief ACP Azham Othman said the police had detained the 37-year-old lorry driver to facilitate investigations.
Alias's widow, Azizah Mat Ali, 53, said her husband suffered from a heart condition and had gone to collect medication at the time of the accident. - Bernama
