Penang CM Lim: Pakatan-led states to defer installation of AES

By MARTIN CARVALHO

KUALA LUMPUR: All four Pakatan Rakyat-led state governments have decided to defer installation of the Automated Enforcement System (AES) in their respective states.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the decision was made to allow the Transport Ministry to provide further details on the AES.

Besides this, he said the meetings would also allow the state to provide suggestions to the ministry, including feedback from motorists and interest groups.

He noted that Penang, Kedah and Kelantan had previously voiced their decision on AES with Selangor to announce it soon.

Of the 831 cameras to be installed at hotspots nationwide, 331 or 40% are supposed to be set up in the four Pakatan states.
