Malay, English language training for 2,000 Chinese school teachers

KUALA LUMPUR: Some 2,000 teachers from national type Chinese schools will undergo training on Nov 19 to address the shortage language teachers.

Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong said the training will focus on the Malay and English languages for teachers between five to 20 years experience.

The teachers, he added, will undergo up to four weeks of training at the teachers training colleges nationwide. There will be another two weeks practical depending on the years of experience.

He said some 20 Chinese language lecturers will be employed to serve at teachers training colleges begining next year as part of the move to increase the pool of Chinese language lecturers.
