Nik Aziz says won't bow to external pressure to quit

KOTA BARU: Although he is unwell, Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat says he will not step down due to pressure from any party except PAS.

He said as the head of government in Kelantan, he could delegate the responsibility of managing and administering the government to the officers below him as long as his mind was active.

"Healthy or otherwise, this is me. To fight Umno does not need a healthy body, but the brain must be okay," he told reporters after opening a state-level Innovation Day celebration here Tuesday.

On Monday, Datuk Ibrahim Ali, the president of Malay right-wing movement Perkasa, urged Nik Aziz to step down as Mentri Besar, claiming that the latter had failed to administer the state due to his age and ill health. - Bernama
