JPJ to set up 51 self-service kiosks nationwide in 2013

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will set up self-service kiosks at various locations next year to enable the public to check and pay their traffic summonses without having to come to the JPJ counters.

JPJ deputy director-general Datuk Ismail Ahmad said 51 locations across the country had been identified to begin with.

"We hope with the kiosks in place, transactions such as to check and pay traffic summonses, as well as to renew road tax, will be made easy," he told reporters after closing the state level Innovation Month celebration here on Wednesday.

Ismail said most of the kiosks would be placed at public areas, including shopping malls.

Meanwhile, he said that JPJ had also set up multi-function counters at its state offices to speed up the transaction process and improve the public delivery system for its clients.

Prior to this, he said the public had to go to separate counters for matters concerning driving licences, road tax and transfer of vehicle ownership. - Bernama
