Three villages in Klang affected by flash floods

KLANG: Some 200 houses in villages Sri Nadi, Johan Setia and Kampung SC were inundated by up to one metre of water after they were hit by flash floods following a heavy downpour that lasted more than six hours on Wednesday evening.

Most the victims were unable to save most of their belongings after water started flowing into their homes at around 6pm.

Jamaludin Abdullah, 34, a resident of Kampung Johan Setia, said this was one of the worst cases of flash flooding in the area.

"I urge the Drainage and Irrigation Department to deepen the drainage system here so that we will not be at the mercy of flash floods whenever there is heavy rain for a prolonged period," he told reporters.

On Oct 18, about 300 houses in the same three villages were hit by flash floods after it rained heavily for more than five hours. - Bernama
