PAS Youth seeks ban on bikini show
KUALA LUMPUR: PAS Youth has demanded the immediate withdrawal of a permit given to an international modelling agency to hold a bikini fashion show here.
Selangor PAS Youth chief Hasbullah Mohd Ridzuan said holding a bikini show in an Islamic country was a major insult, referring to the planned Bello Model Management bikini fashion event at the Grand Millennium Hotel on Saturday.
The movement also condemned the organisers for wanting to hold the show during the haj season.
“The organisers are insensitive to hold such vice events during a holy month in an Islamic country, where wearing indecent outfits are against our culture,” said Hasbullah.
“It is wrong to treat women like a commodity and parade them in an undignified manner,” he added, urging muftis, Jakim, the Fatwa Council and Islamic-based non-governmental organisations to state their objection.
Hasbullah said such shows should be banned because it was a form of violation of human dignity.
“It is high time the relevant authorities take drastic action to stop the exploitation of women,” he said.
