Police procuring CCTV footage of RM1mil van heist
By STEVEN CHIEW
SHAH ALAM: Police will obtain CCTV footage from a number of locations to assist investigations into the RM1mil security van heist at Taman Eng Ann, Klang on Wednesday.
Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Mohd Adnan Abdullah said the locations included the scene of the incident and the area where the suspects burnt the van after they fled.
Speaking at a press conference at the state police headquarters here Thursday, he urged witnesses to the incident to assist in police investigations by reporting to the nearest police station.
Five men armed with pistols fled with about RM1mil from a security van around 5.30pm Wednesday. The van had stopped outside a gaming outlet to collect the day's proceeds when a green Proton Waja arrived at the scene.
The suspects got out of the car and rushed towards the van driver and his colleague, who were carrying the money from the shop to the van.
They then ordered the van driver to drive the vehicle, while one of the suspects followed in the car.
Another suspect seized a firearm from a security guard and ordered them to leave the van when they reached Jalan Tiong, off Jalan Eng Ann, about two kilometres from the location of the heist.
The security van was found ablaze when police arrived later and the robbers were believed to have fled with about RM1mil. However, some RM500,000 was found in the van, with most of the money partially burnt.
