Mindef to set up Wataniah wing for civil aviation
IPOH: A new Territorial Army (Wataniah) wing, the Civil Aviation Handling Regiment (CAHR), will be set up soon to act as a second security team at airports.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the team was expected to be set up before the end of the year.
"When it is set up, all strategic areas will have their own Territorial Army teams," he said after a dinner in conjunction with his visit to the Territorial Army Training Centre on Friday night.
The Bagan Datoh MP said those selected for the CAHR would be given the appropriate training.
Meanwhile, lauding the plan by opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to visit Bagan Datoh, he said hoped it was not to slander but rather explain his party's policies, manifesto and budget ideas to their voters. - Bernama
