Two Customs officers get death sentence for drug trafficking


ALOR SETAR: Two Customs preventive officers have been sentenced to death for trafficking in drugs last year.

High Court judge Judicial Commissioner Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab handed down the sentence to Ismail Mansor, 43, and Nazni Seman, 48, of the Kuala Perlis Anti-Smuggling Unit in Perlis.

The two men were found guilty of trafficking in 6,705 grams of cannabis at the parking lot for lorries of a cement factory in Bukit Keteri, Padang Besar, Perlis, at 9.30pm on April 27 last year.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Azhar Mokhtar appeared for the prosecution while the two men were represented by counsel Y. Anbananthan.

Anbananthan said in mitigation that Nazni had served with the Customs for 17 years and Ismail, for 14 years. - Bernama
