Company director charged with giving false statement

KUALA LUMPUR: A company director claimed trial in a Sessions Court here Tuesday for providing false statement on material evidence in his account statement for the purpose of cancelling a company's name three years ago.

Ong Chin Hoe, 58, was charged with giving the false statement in his capacity as a director of Syarikat Springs Court sdn Bhd with the aim of cancelling the company's name under Section 308(1) of the Company Act 1965.

Ong was allegedly committed the offence at Level 2, Wisma Mahamewah, Jalan Sungai Besi here on Dec 31, 2009.

He was accused under Section 364(2) of the same act which carries a maximum of 20 years' jail or RM250,000 fine or both on conviction.

Prosecuting Officer from Companies Commission of Malaysia Nur Atiqah Mohd Yamin urged the court to impose bail at RM20,000.

Later, Sessions judge Hasbi Hasan allowed bail at RM15,000 in one surety pending mention on Oct 22.

Counsel Ashok Kandiah acted for Ong.
