Maid jailed five months for stealing

KUALA LUMPUR: An Indonesian maid was jailed five months by a Magistrate's Court here for stealing her employer's cash, valuables and later left her employer's 11-month-old baby alone in the house.

Magistrate Erry Shahriman Nor Aripin sentenced Christian Hasibuan, 31, after she pleaded guilty to the charge.

Christian was charged with stealing the items belonging to Wan Hasyeela Wan Muhammad at Block B of Pangsapuri Desa Aman 2, Jalan Pantai Murni 6 in Pantai Dalam here at about 10.30am on Sept 24.

She was charged under Section 381 of the Penal Code, which provides a maximum of seven years' jail or whipping, if convicted.

According to the facts Wan Hasyeela received a call from her neighbour informing her that Christian had left the baby alone in the house.

Wan Hasyeela returned home 20 minutes later and found that her baby was crying

Upon checking, she found that her house was ransacked and her wardrobe was forced open.

Later she discovered that RM500 cash, a watch worth RM600 and the maid's passport were missing.

Wan Hasyeela believed that the maid fled to her boyfriend's house in Subang Jaya after stealing her belongings.

Wan Hasyeela, who has four children, was a police inspector and attached to Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department.

DPP S. Malini Anne prosecuted while Christian was unrepresented.
