Man who claimed he found his father dead, now charged with murder
By NURBAITI HAMDAN
KLANG: A 22-year-old man who reportedly found his father's dead body in his bedroom last month has been charged with his murder at a Magistrate's Court here.
D. Muthtamil was accused of murdering S. Doraisamy, 58, by hitting his head with a log at their home in Taman Teluk Gedung Indah here in Port Klang at 6.20am on Sept 29.
The accused was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code and faces a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
No plea was recorded and bail was not offered.
According to initial investigations, the accused and his father had an argument after the father, who was a contractor, did not pay his car and house monthly instalments.
Lawyer Gerard Lazarus told Magistrate Azlinda Ahmad Sharif that his client was 'tortured and punished' after he was arrested by the police on the same day of the incident.
"My client had given two names to prove his alibi but the police did not investigate his claim. I am lodging a report at the prison on this matter," he said.
Magistrate Azlinda told Lazarus to proceed with lodging the report and fixed the case for mention on Nov 26.
DPP Shahrul Ekhsan Hasim appeared for the prosecution.
It was previously reported that Doraisamy's body was found with head injuries at his double-storey semi-detached house by Muthtamil.
The police had earlier believed the motive was robbery as RM2,500 was said to be missing from the victim's wallet.
However, the were no signs of a break-in and Muthtamil reportedly said that his father rarely locked the gates and grilles at their home.
