Way for grads to prove they are Ready4Work

KUALA LUMPUR: With the launch of a new online portal Ready4Work, graduates now have a new avenue to learn how to wow future employers.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the move was to address the complaints from the industry that Malaysian graduates were unemployable.

“Apart from complaining, here is something that the industry can do to address the challenges that we face,” he told a press conference after launching the portal.

He added that the portal, a collaboration between the Higher Education Ministry, TalentCorp and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), was a good example of how the industry could contribute towards tackling an issue.

So far, 10 companies Accenture, Axiata, CIMB, Ernst & Young, Maxis, Maybank, Motorola, Intel, PwC and Telekom Malaysia are involved in the collaboration.

“Students are able to gain an insight into the types of skills and expectations that industries have,” said Mohamed Khaled while urging other companies to get involved.

He also said that as part of addressing the issue of graduate employability, the Government had agreed to launch the Graduate Employability Blueprint next month.
