UN: New HIV infections more than halved in 25 countries

GENEVA: Twenty-five countries saw drops of 50 percent or more in new HIV infections in the past decade, the United Nations said Tuesday.

"A more than 50 percent reduction in the rate of new HIV infections has been achieved across 25 low- and middle-income countries - more than half in Africa, the region most affected by HIV," UNAIDS said as it presented its annual report on the state of the global pandemic.
