Triple helping of Ben 10 and friends live in Malaysia

It’s hero time!: Ben 10 cast members from three shows set to amaze Malaysian fans in a live action show from today to Nov 11 at Wisma MCA.

KUALA LUMPUR: Awesome aliens, cool stunts, acrobatics and cutting-edge digital effects. These are what Malaysians can expect from Cartoon Network's Ben 10 Live: Time Machine that starts today.

Melbourne-born production company Life Like Touring's creative producer Luke Gallagher said this would be the first time the production would be shown in the country at Wisma MCA from Nov 9 to Nov 11.

“Fans of the TV show will be entertained with their favourite characters from three Cartoon Network shows Ben 10, Ben 10 Alien Force and Ben 10 Ultimate Alien live on stage in this one-hour and 20-minute show.

“Three Bens from the future and past will come together to defeat villains from various periods of time,” he said in at interview at Wisma MCA yesterday.

He said the show would feature an impressive 15,360 light-emitting diodes (LED) and 320 costume pieces.

“We only have eight cast members to play 18 characters on stage so there's going to be 53 costume changes,” he said.

The show will see alien-morphing hero Ben Tennyson on an adventure through time and space to keep the Omnitrix and the Ultimatrix (devices that give Ben the power to transform into various alien forms) safe from the clutches of his foes.

His cousin Gwen and Grandpa Max will join in the adventure to defeat villains such as Vilgax, the Highbreed Commander, DNAliens and The Forever Knights.

Gallagher added that the Ben 10 series was big here as it was viewed in over 1.2 million Malaysian homes, and over 5.5 million related toys, clothing and memorabilia sold worldwide.

“The tickets for the opening show are almost sold out so we're expecting thousands to come enjoy the show,” he said.

The show promoter and producer Trinity Concept Builders Sdn Bhd managing director Ruth Ong said 300 children, which include 55 from Shelter (part of The Star Employee Volunteer Programme), will be given the chance to watch the stage show and meet and greet the characters today.

Show times are at 8pm today, 2pm, 5.30pm and 8pm tomorrow; and 2pm and 5pm on Sunday.
