Teenager, two seniors drown during picnic outing
KUCHING: After battling choppy seas for seven hours, a search and rescue team found the body of a teenager who drowned near Pantai Kampung Siru Melayu, Sematan, Lundu, about 100km from here Sunday.
Lundu Police chief DSP Wong Chee Keong said Monday the body of Jesper Jong Yu Yu, 14, a student of a Chinese school here, was found at 9pm by a team comprising police and fire and rescue personnel as well as villagers.
"We received a report on the incident at 2.20pm and the rescue team found the first two bodies an hour into the operation," he said when contacted here.
They were identified as Ling Chok Liong, 78, and Ting Kuo Liong, 69.
He said the trio and four other people from the Kuching Methodist Church had gone for a picnic at the beach.
They reportedly drowned while swimming. - Bernama
